HONOLULU, HI — ProsPac today contributed $100,000 to the Maui Food Bank in support of the organization’s work to address immediate needs amid wildfire recovery. Maui Food Bank is providing meals to displaced residents and collecting donations of non-perishables, food, and hygiene products. As of last week, the organization reported it had distributed over 250,000 pounds of food to emergency shelters.
“We deeply appreciate the immense generosity of the community,“ remarked Richard Yust, the executive director of Maui Food Bank. “With the support of volunteers and partners, we are swiftly distributing food and essential resources as they arrive. The residents of Maui can rest assured that we will stand by them as they recover and rebuild.”
“ProsPac’s gift, along with the support from so many in our community, will help provide important aid to those impacted by the wildfires,” added Amy Miller Marvin, president and CEO of Hawai‘i Foodbank. “This type of support not only helps to provide immediate relief, but it also helps us prepare for the long recovery ahead. Hawai‘i Foodbank is committed to supporting our neighbors on Maui every step of the way.”
Local organizations and officials encourage those who want to help with Maui’s relief efforts to consider monetary donations, as funds can more quickly be utilized to help provide support and food assistance to affected individuals and families.
“Access to food continues to be an immediate need facing the Maui community, and we know this gift to the Maui Food Bank will offer relief to individuals and families impacted by this tragedy,” said William Chen, vice president, ProsPac Holdings. “ProsPac stands united with our neighbors and ‘ohana on Maui as we continue to work toward recovery.”
According to Hawai‘i Foodbank, one in six people in Hawai‘i is facing hunger, including many kūpuna and one in four keiki. A gift of just $10 can provide someone with meals for an entire week.
